Can you fill in only the width?
Yes. Give one side and the other follows the original ratio. Give both and the image is fitted inside those bounds, so nothing is squashed.
Can you make an image bigger than the original?
You can enlarge it, but no detail appears that was not there. On screen it just looks soft. If you need a large image for print, start from a large original instead.
Can you resize several files at once?
Yes. Drop them together and they all use the same bounds. Each file keeps its own ratio, so a mix of portrait and landscape is fine.
Where do the files go?
Nowhere. Your browser does the work, and this page never sends files to a server. Try it with your internet disconnected and see it still work.
