PNG or JPG — which one?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it is. That suits screenshots, logos, and drawings with hard edges. On photographs, where colours shift gradually, it makes the file much larger.
When does JPG win?
JPG drops detail your eye cannot easily catch, which shrinks the file. For photos you post online or attach to email, JPG is far lighter. This tool re-encodes at 92% quality.
What happens to transparency?
JPG cannot store transparency. Any transparent area in your PNG is filled with white. If you need the transparent background, switch the save format to PNG or WebP.
